CADEIRA 2025 : I found a way to praise the sun, which delights everyone in Portugal with an average of 3,000 hours per year. I redesigned and built the lounger to contemplate the sun and fill ourselves with vitamin D and pleasure — a good way to recharge our batteries. Limited of 20 lounge chairs, handmade, numbered, and signed. Handcrafted upon purchase. Estimated delivery in 6–8 weeks.
FORM : I used the simplicity of forms to its maximum without diminishing their function, with no adornments or noise.
With a 40X40mm section and joints redesigned create five times more contact surface between the parts, increasing their robustness and the chair’s longevity.
MATERIALS : Structure : In 2017, during a storm on the Portuguese central coast, the wind knocked several trees down. One of the trees was an Australian Red Acacia from the Fabaceae family, considered an invasive species, but with a beautiful, dense, red-toned wood. The wood was collected and left to dry naturally over the next 8 years. Today, in 2025, it will be used as raw material to build the CADEIRA. Assuming that the tree was 80 years old, adding 8 years of drying, we can say that the beginnings of the CADEIRA date back to 1937. So, the feeling towards such noble raw material can only be expressed through respect and gratitude.
Axles : The four points where the chair folds are designed and manufactured in solid brass.
Seat : Yarn raw cotton canvas.
